Ode’min Giizis (Strawberry Moon) is the 6th moon of the Anishinaabe calendar and summer solstice. This year it falls on June 21st, Canada’s National Aboriginal Day which is held annually to celebrate the unique heritage, diverse cultures, and outstanding achievements of the nation’s Aboriginal peoples. Christian Morrisseau is the son of Shaman artist Norval Morrisseau and has established himself as one of the finest painters in the Woodland School, founded by his father. Pauline Shirt is a Plains Cree Elder who serves as a mentor and trusted Grandmother to many members of the Aboriginal Community, offering a positive voice for her people. She is a long-time friend of the Morrisseau family.
